Danny Aiello Never Wanted To Work With Madonna
US actor Danny Aiello has talked to FRESH-FM 102.7 about his career and his part in Madonna‘s music video for 'Papa Don’t Preach', Aiello played the role of Madonna’s father in the video clip, something he was reluctant to do:
'My daughter talked me into that, I didn’t want to do it because, ya know, I don’t do videos,' says Aiello, whose daughter was a huge fan. He didn’t accept the $450 for the shoot in exchange for his daughter to be allowed on set to take pictures.
'She hasn’t changed much, except I think she was a better singer when she was sorta brand new.'
'She was very nice to me, I suppose it was a father/daughter relationship.'

Madonna's 15-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon appears to already have picked up a bad nicotine habit after she was pictured smoking a cigarette on Friday.
The eldest daughter of the Material Girl was seen puffing away as she loitered around with male friends in New York.
She had the cigarette in her hand as a pal lighted it for her and seemed very comfortable with it. The legal age for smoking in America is 18.

Wearing a black and white mini dress with matching shoes, the 10th grade schoolgirl wore dark shades and her long hair loosely around her shoulders.
At one point she even sneakily tried to hide the cigarette in her hand by holding it upside down as she walked along.
Lourdes is following in her mother's footsteps in many ways including her passion for fashion with the family's clothing line Material Girl.

But as Madonna was seen seductively posing with a cigarette in her latest music video Girl Gone Wild, it appears it may be a bad habit picked up closer to home.
Madonna's rep had denied the singer had started smoking again after pictures surfaced of her with what looked like a cigarette in hand while shooting her movie W.E. in 2010.
But regardless of whether the 53-year-old was just posing with it or does still smoke, it may not be the best example to set for her four children.

Lourdes will reportedly join her mother's backing dancers when she kicks off her 50-country world tour in Israel in May.

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born in Michigan in August 1958. She was raised a Catholic and was the third of six children. As a child, she took ballet classes and after graduating high school, she was offered a dance scholarship at the University of Michigan. The young Madonna later moved to New York to pursue a career in dance. Through her dance work, she made contacts in the music industry and began sending out demos.
After catching the attention of Sire Records, she secured a recording contract and released her first single ‘Everybody’ in April 1982. An eponymous debut album followed and Madonna gained a growing fan-base.
Madonna went from US cult to worldwide phenomenon with the release of her second album, ‘Like A Virgin’. Muller Monthly Music Meta, June

puzzle 7-8 minutes; meta 10 minutes (Matt)
There was no way I wasn’t going to get June’s Muller Music Meta. After my stinging, unnecessary defeat in May, I would’ve moved mountains and crossed oceans in order to succeed. Fortunately such feats of strength and endurance proved unnecessary since the June metapuzzle was both elegant and not-too-tough.
Instructions asked for a greatest-hits album, but theme material was elusive. ITALIAN-AMERICAN [Like Ani DiFranco or Gwen Stefani] was the only grid-spanner (which later turned out to be quasi-theme).
Right after solving the puzzle I was thinking it might be Madonna’s “Immaculate Collection,” due to the puzzle’s title (“Religious Inscription”), plus ITALIAN-AMERICAN, plus MACC leading up from E-MALL. Only now as I’m typing this do I realize that the word “immaculate” does not, in fact, contain the letter sequence MACC, but at the time I thought it did and seemed to point towards Madonna.
I put the puzzle aside for a while, and when I picked it back up, as happens so often in a meta-solve, I suddenly saw it right away: hugging those two crosses in the grid we find MADONNA LOUISE CICCONE, which is the pop megastar’s full name, and our meta answer, the IMMACULATE COLLECTION. This is especially fitting since Madonna has famously appropriated the Christian cross into her personal iconography (clothing, jewelry, videos, album covers, etc.) in ways both admired and frowned upon. But hey, the music is indubitably good:
I thought this was an elegant idea for a meta and masterfully executed. I’ve written a couple hundred of these puppies and it never struck me to wrap the meta around chunks of black squares like this, so high marks for originality. The fill is so wide-open and good that there was no “poor-fill alert” that a meta was lurking nearby, which made seeing the revealers so tricky that even when I knew what I was looking for I didn’t see it right away. Then, like a good Magic Eye puzzle and good meta, it suddenly emerged and seemed so obvious in retrospect.
I want to re-emphasize how good the fill is in this, especially considering how Madonna’s name and greatest-hits album affect so many parts of the grid: AMAZONIA, CIAO BELLA (another quasi-themer), POWER MAC, TEST SCORE, ANY DAY, SWIM MEET, NINTENDO, ALOUETTE and AC/DC are welcome in any freestyle puzzle. A few suboptimal entries alongside, true, but they don’t rise to the level of my mentioning them. This is an ambitious idea and grid and it totally succeeds.
4.75 stars. My favorite MMMM of the year so far. Bravo to Pete, and I’ll see you back here for the July meta. BTW, has anyone taken a stab at the mega-meta so far? I sense things will start to get tougher very soon around these parts.

Guy Ritchie takes Lourdes and Rocco to Speed Racer premiere
Screenwriter and director Guy Ritchie, 39, took kids Lourdes Maria, 11 ½, and Rocco John, 7 ½, to the UK premiere of Speed Racer on Tuesday evening. The movie premiere was held at London’s Empire Leicester Square. The movie opens in theaters on Friday, May 9th.
Guy and his wife Madonna, 49, also have son David Banda, 2 ½. Lourdes’ father is Carlos Leon.
